A suicide bomber on Saturday wounded 12 people – five of them police officers – in Russia’s volatile North Caucasus region, the country’s state news agency Ria Novosti reported.

The attack occurred in Makhachkala, capital of the semi-autonomous region of Dagestan.

The attacker, who targeted the regional police headquarters, was the widow of a militant who had been killed by law enforcement, the news agency reported, citing police.
