Authorities have shut down Geneva International Airport due to an unspecified security incident, likely involving an Ethiopian Airlines flight.
Communications from the airport’s air traffic control said the situation was in progress early Monday morning, but did not say what it was.
The airline released a statement Monday morning saying that Flight 702, en route to Rome, was forced to land in Geneva.
The plane had taken off from the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa. It was “forced to proceed” to the Geneva airport, the airline said.
The occupants were all safe, the airline said.
