On Monday FIFA cleared winger Julian Green to play for the United States, despite him having previously represented Germany at various youth levels. The 18-year-old could make his debut in next week's friendly against Mexico.

Striker Diego Costa was born in Brazil and has played for the country of his birth on two occasions. But the Atletico Madrid striker is now a Spain international and he could represent his adopted nation at this year's World Cup, which will take place in Brazil.

Manchester United's Belgian-born winger Adnan Januzaj is being monitored by the English FA. Januzaj is also eligible to represent Albania and could play for Kosovo if they are ever permitted to take part in competitive matches.
