Serena passes new milestone —
Serena Williams captured the 61st title of her career at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, California, and became the fifth women's tennis player to spend 200 weeks or more as world No. 1

Williams is now closing on the achievements of Martina Hingis, whose 209 weeks at No. 1 is the fourth highest since the women's rankings began.

No. 3 Chris Evert —
Third on the list is Chris Evert, who spent 262 weeks at the top during a career in which the American won 18 grand slam singles titles -- one more than Williams.

No. 2 Martina Navratilova —
Evert's great rival Martina Navratilova spent the second longest at the summit, with 332 weeks at No. 1 -- plus a record 237 weeks in doubles -- as she also won 18 grand slam singles titles.
