Yaya Toure has been integral to Manchester City's success since his arrival at the club but his love affair at the Etihad Stadium in 2010. The relationship has been occasionally strained, however, with ongoing rumors that he could yet leave the club at the end of the season.

The first notable silverware of his career came with the Greek domestic double in the 2005-06 season with Olympiacos, for whom he played for two seasons before a season spent in the French top flight with Monaco.

While at Monaco, Barcelona came calling and Toure signed for the Spanish giants in 2007 for a relatively paltry $10 million before making his club debut in the league season opener against Racing Santander.

His first piece of silverware for Barcelona was the Copa del Rey in 2009 during which he scored in the final. It was a stunning season for Barcelona in which they were also crowned La Liga champions.

Injuries and suspensions meant Toure played in central defense for the Champions League final that year against Manchester United. He did well to nullify the threat of Cristiano Ronaldo among others.

He made his World Cup debut for Ivory Coast in the 2010 tournament in South Africa and scored in the group game against North Korea. But he and his countrymen failed to qualify for the knockout stages from a group also containing Brazil and Portugal.

Shortly after the World Cup he was among a raft of new signings under Roberto Mancini for Manchester City. Toure was unveiled alongside Aleksandar Kolarov, David Silva and Jerome Boateng.

Manchester City's litany of stars initially took time to settle as a group before the first trophy success came in the 2011 FA Cup final. Toure was mobbed by his teammates after scoring the only goal of the game against Stoke.

Ivory Coast may be awash with talented players but the country have struggled on the international stage. They made the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012 but ended up coming away from the tournament as runners-up to Zambia.

Toure applauds the Manchester City support as the club finally end their wait for the Premier League title in the most dramatic of circumstances, courtesy of Sergio Aguero's late goal to defeat QPR 3-2 in the final seconds of the 2011-12 season.

But the highs at City have also been mixed with lows, the midfielder cutting a disconsolate figure on the pitch at Wembley Stadium after a shock defeat in the 2013 FA Cup final against Wigan Athletic.

The Mancunian club have since made amends with a second league title, which was won last year, under manager Manuel Pelligrini for whom Toure has nothing but praise.

Shortly after the season finish, Toure headed to Brazil for the World Cup but Ivory Coast struggled, as did Toure, pictured playing against Greece just days after the death of his younger brother Ibrahim.
