Atletico Madrid has taken sponsorship to a new level, having a country sponsor their shirts. The slogan reads "Azerbaijan: Land of Fire," referencing the oil rich Eastern European nation. Azerbaijan also sponsors second-tier English club Sheffield Wednesday.

Major League Soccer has also seen a rise in shirt sponsorship income -- Los Angeles Galaxy signed a record deal with Herbalife that will last until 2022, valued at over $44m.
