"I felt, as a lady, it was my duty to design something especially for us, where we can feel a woman's touch," Bersani said of the gold and crystal-encrusted boat.

Though not everyone is impressed. "It feels somehow remote, like some sort of little girlish dream, traveling in that eternal pink cloud," said Maria Jaschok, director of theInternational Gender Studies Centre at Oxford University.

"The vast majority of very wealthy business people in the world today still seems to be men," said Rory Trahair, of superyacht brokers Edmiston. "And I think a yacht is the ultimate sign of success, it's the ultimate toy if you like, the biggest aspirational product an individual can have."

At this stage the superyacht is still a concept, and Bersani was unwilling to put a price on it.
