Some cyclists during the Paris-Roubaix race took their life into their own hands during a level -- or railway -- crossing, not stopping as the barrier went down. These cyclists, however, did stop.

Germany's John Degenkolb won the 254.5-kilometer 'Cobbled Classic' in five hours, 49 minutes and 51 seconds.

Degenkolb became the first man to win the Paris-Roubaix and Milan-San Remo races in the same season since 1986.

In his final race for Team Sky, Olympic gold medalist Bradley Wiggins finished 18th.

Don't let this pretty picture fool you. The race has been dubbed, 'Hell of the North' because it's so grueling.
