Record-breaking jockey Tony "A.P." McCoy called the curtain on two decades of dominance in the saddle at England's Sandown racecourse on Saturday.

The 40-year-old was presented with the champion jockey trophy for the 20th year in a row by former England and Arsenal football star Ian Wright.

McCoy, who won 4,382 races and broke just about every bone in his body, was cheered into the parade ring by his fellow jockeys.

He lined up for two last races, one of which was named in his honor.

McCoy had to settle for third place in both events, in front of a sold-out crowd of 18,300 people.

Here he is pictured with his retainer J.P. McManus (left) and Jonjo O'Neill -- who is the Irish billionaire's long-time chief horse trainer. "I started off as his employee and as time has gone on we have become really good friends," McCoy said of McManus.

A keen Arsenal fan, he was presented a special lifetime achievement award by his childhood hero Liam Brady.
