Polo player Nacho Figueras has been likened to David Beckham with his playing, modeling and charity work.

But Figueras likes to point out that he is first and foremost a polo player while also fronting a horse-breeding program in his native Argentina.

Figueras is a well-known celebrity back in Argentina but laughs at comparisons that he is on a par with footballer Lionel Messi. "In Argentina, football is king and he's the leading player," says Figueras. "I don't think you can compare any athlete to Messi, he's just on a different level. Polo is big in Argentina but Messi is huge."

Figueras has been riding for as long as he can remember but realized in his teenage years he had the chance to become a professional player.

He remains among the world's top 100 players and has enjoyed all manner of successes on the polo field. Here he celebrates at Fifth-Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at Will Rogers State Historic Park, California last year.

The sport has also brought him in close contact with Prince Harry and the pair have become close through the Prince's Sentebale charity.

But Figueras is reluctant to call either Prince Harry or William his friend, saying "you'll have to ask them that."

Figueras represented Prince Harry's charity on a trip to Lesotho in 2013.

Despite his polo playing, he may well be more globally recognized as the face of Polo Ralph Lauren.

He does not like to call himself a model but Figueras appreciates the doors that have opened to him as a result of his polo playing and Ralph Lauren work.

Figueras is married to the photographer Delfina Blaquier and the couple currently have four children.
