In the shadow —
Rayo, based in Madrid, is dwarfed by its neighbors Atletico and Real. It has one of the smallest budgets in Spain's La Liga but still managed to finish 11th last season.

Home territory —
Estadio de Vallecas is the home of Rayo Vallecano. Located southeast of the city center, it has a capacity of just under 15,000 but has played host to the likes of Lionel Messi's Barcelona and Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid.
