
Roger Federer faced off against Novak Djokovic in the final of the Cincinnati Masters Sunday.

Federer started strongly in the afternoon heat and wore Djokovic down to to take the first set after a tie-break.

Djokovic was aiming to complete the full set of Masters 1000 tournament victories, having never won in Cincinnati before.

The world number one has won eight of nine Masters 1000 events on the ATP Tour.

But Federer is a formidable opponent and had twice beaten the Serb in a Cincinnati final.

Federer broke Djokovic in the first game of the second set and held on to take the match 7-6 (7/1) 6-3.
