Roma president James Pallotta blames matters off the pitch for Roma's mid-season slump last term but is hopeful for an upturn in fortunes this season.

American-born Pallotta (left) has been in charge at the Italian giant since 2013.

Victory at home to Italian champion Juventus was followed by a creditable Champions League draw against Barcelona.

However, the Giallorossi have dropped points domestically against Sampdoria and Sassuolo.

New signings like Wojciech Sczesny (pictured), Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah have bolstered Roma manager Rudi Garcia's squad.

Off the pitch, Roma has plans to build a new stadium in the Italian capital.

According to Pallotta, the move will allow the club to increase revenues and commercial opportunities.
