
Venus Williams was all smiles after winning her 700th career singles match at the Wuhan Open. The 35-year-old defeated Germany's Julia Goerges in straight sets.

Williams (right) was always tipped for the top after impressing as a junior. She turned professional at the age of 14.

Williams has won seven grand slam titles during her career so far -- five of those coming at Wimbledon. She dominated grass court tennis, winning in 2000, 2002, 2008, 2009 and 2012.

Williams has won the U.S. Open twice. In 2001 she overcame her sister, Serena, to win the title for the second year in succession.

Williams' interests outside of tennis include fashion. She has her own label, EleVen, and often wears some of her own designs on the court.

Serena Williams has won 737 singles matches in her career. The 34-year-old has won 21 grand slams.

Martina Navratilova leads the all-time list for singles victories with 1,363. She won 18 grand slam titles during an illustrious career.

Chris Evert is second in the all-time list with 1,011. The American won 18 grand slams including seven French Open titles.
