Iago Aspas joined Celta Vigo's youth academy at the age of eight and it was his goals -- 23 in 35 games -- that helped Celta win promotion to La Liga in 2012.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers brought Aspas for $11.6m in 2013. Aspas (pictured right) made 15 appearances for the Reds -- scoring just once in Liverpool's 2-0 win against Oldham in the FA Cup.

Aspas has gone down in Liverpool folklore, for the wrong reasons -- his scuffed corner at Chelsea summed up the Spaniard's frustrating season at Anfield

While Aspas has rediscovered his scoring touch at Celta, Rodgers has come under intense scrutiny as Liverpool have struggled to replicate the form that almost won them the Premier League title in 2014.

"Everything helps you learn and gather experience," says Aspas of his Liverpool spell.

The Spaniard (pictured left) was loaned to Sevilla for the 2014-15 season. The Andalucian club won the UEFA Europa League to qualify for the Champions League and finished fifth in La Liga.

Now back Celta, Aspas is a folk hero at the Galician club. He scored twice in Vigo's 4-1 victory over Barcelona.

Celta fans could have hardly believed what they were watching as the Galician team humbled Spanish champions Barcelona, beating them 4-1.

Neither could Barca star Lionel Messi ...

This was Barca's biggest La Liga defeat under coach Luis Enrique as Celta ended the champions' 100% record in the league this season.

Aspas scored for the fourth time this season in Celta's 1-1 draw against Eibar. The club are unbeaten in the league and lie fourth in the table, two points off table-toppers Villarreal.

Former Celta coach Luis Enrique, who now manages Barcelona, has spoken admiringly of the way the Galician club play football, calling them "one of the most entertaining teams in European football."
