The LA Convention Center is used to hosting big events but the LA Masters provides organizers with a unique challenge. The show ring alone requires 1,500 tons of dirt.

Bruce Springsteen has more interest than most A-listers at the event -- his daughter Jessica is a up-and-coming rider hoping to make the U.S. Olympic team for Rio 2016.

Reed Kessler, who represented the U.S. at the London 2012 Olympics -- when she was 18 years old -- will be one of the riders competing at this year's event.

The job of making the horses feel at home falls to Filip Vande Cappelle, logistics manager for European Horse Services.
"To make the stables, we start off with a parking lot outside the convention center and end up with five-star stable accommodation. We start on Tuesday and by Friday everything is ready."

Brian T Edwards of the Production Resource Group oversees the transformation of the center.
"The biggest challenge is the limited amount of time we have to get in with our equipment and connect it to the ceiling of the building," Edwards says.

"A big part of the show is creating the footing [the surface for the horses], the grandstands and the VIP lounges, and that takes a long time," Edwards explains.

"The footing is eight inches thick or something like that, so it's a tremendous amount of dirt, 60 or 70 dump truck loads," Edwards says.

"Before that can happen, we have to bring in enough equipment to span the length of 12 football fields and lift it out of the way. It's a tremendous amount of space."

Usually the convention space is used for business and consumer events. Here, a World War II-era military tank is seen on display promoting the "World of Tanks" from developer Wargaming.net at the Electronics Entertainment Expo in 2011.
