Ecuador and Bolivia met in a 2018 World Cup qualifier at the Estadio Olimpico Atahualpa on Tuesday and had to contend with torrential downpour and a number of menacing puddles.

Despite the treacherous conditions, the match was not abandoned and the drenched players had to battle it out for the full 90 minutes.

Ecuador won the game 2-0, with late goals from Miller Bolanos and Felipe Caicedo securing the three points.

Ecuador went joint-top of South America's World Cup qualifying table, having won two games out of two.

Bottom side Bolivia, meanwhile, has lost both its qualifying games.
