Eugenie Bouchard is suing the United States Tennis Association after she suffered a concussion at the U.S. Open in September.

After playing a mixed doubles match, Bouchard slipped and fell inside the locker room, hitting her head.

She then had to pull out of the tournament. Bouchard was due to face Roberta Vinci in a fourth round siingles match. Vinci would go on to upset Serena Williams and make the final.

Bouchard has only played one match since the U.S. Open, having to retire in Beijing, China against Andrea Petkovic.

A visibly distressed Bouchard is pictured receiving treatment on court at the China Open before her retirement.

An emotional Bouchard waved to the crowd in Beijing as she exited.

Before the concussion, Bouchard was having a good U.S. Open. She won three rounds to arrest a bad slump.

Prior to the U.S. Open, the Canadian had lost 14 of her 18 previous matches, including her opener at Wimbledon and the French Open.

Bouchard had dipped for most of 2015, which was a contrast to 2014. She made her breakthrough and reached the Wimbledon final.

She was bettered in the finale by Petra Kvitova but had still become the first Canadian to reach a grand slam singles final.
