Novak Djokovic: The $16 million Man

Novak Djokovic secured his 10th title of the year with victory over Andy Murray at the Paris Masters final.

Victory over Murray meant a record sixth Masters 1000 series title this season, while it also extended his winning streak to 22 matches. Djokovic's his last loss was on August 23 to Roger Federer in the Cincinnati Masters final.

"It's by far the best year of my life," Djokovic told CNN. "I'm trying to cherish every moment spent on the court."

After winning the Shanghai Masters in October, Djokovic became the first tennis pro to surpass $16 million in earnings in one season. He now has $16.7m and can earn a further $2.28m if he defends his title undefeated at the ATP World Tour Finals.

Federer holds a record 17 grand slam titles and is the all-time leader in career prize money with $95.2 million. Djokovic has 10 grand slams and has won $89.1 million in prize money.

Djokovic credits coach Boris Becker for giving him a mental edge on the court. "He's somebody that understands the kind of challenges and obstacles that I have to overcome mentally," said the Serb of the three-time Wimbledon champion.
