Kei Kamara (left) is on the shortlist for the 2015 MLS player of the year award after being joint top scorer in regular season.

A teenage refugee from civil war in Sierre Leone, Kamara has scored 24 goals for Columbus Crew SC this season on his return to the U.S.

In January 2013, Kamara went on loan to English Premier League club Norwich City. Here he makes his trademark heart-shape celebration during a match against Everton.

After a short spell at Norwich, Kamara joined second division club Middlesbrough on a two-year contract before rejoining Columbus.

Kei Kamara first made his MLS mark with Sporting Kansas City, scoring 38 goals in two and a half seasons.

With his ever-changing haircuts, Kamara is one of the most colorful characters in the MLS.

He was first drafted in the MLS by Columbus Crew, but left after the 2007 season and moved to San Jose and Houston before joining Kansas.

Despite taking up U.S. citizenship, Kamara decided to represent Sierra Leone on the international stage, though he no longer plays for his country in protest at a perceived lack of professionalism in its setup.
