The goalscoring goalkeeper has finally hung up his gloves. Rogerio Ceni, the Brazilian who scored 131 goals in his career, has retired after 23 seasons with Sao Paulo.

The 42-year-old is an expert taker of free-kicks and penalties, with all of his goals coming from set pieces. He is officially recognized as the highest-scoring goalkeeper in football history and he became the first player in his position to score over 100 goals.

Ceni appeared for Brazil on 16 occasions and was a member of the squad which won the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea, although he didn't play any games during the tournament.

He enjoyed a glittering career with Sao Paulo, who he played for across three decades. In 2005, he helped the team win FIFA's Club World Cup in a victory against Liverpool.

A fellow 2002 World Cup winner and a two-time World Player of the Year, Ronaldinho took to Twitter to praise his compatriot.
