Tuesday's main event was the Qatar Lennox Stakes, in which 9/4 favorite Dutch Connection took the win. James McDonald, 24, was the victorious jockey, registering his first ever Goodwood success.

This was Dutch Connection's first victory at Group Two level, but his jockey believes he can go even quicker. "He is a very good horse who is very capable on his day," reflected McDonald. "Hopefully he can win that elusive Group One in the future. He adapted to the conditions underfoot superbly and I wouldn't run him on any ground apart from that."

Hundreds of Panama hats were on show at Goodwood. Back in 1906, Edward VII -- a Goodwood regular -- caused a major shock by eschewing traditional morning dress (top hat and tailcoat) to attend the race in a white linen suit and a Panama hat. Pretty soon, everyone had followed suit --<a href="https://www.chinalucky8.com/2016/07/25/sport/glorious-goodwood-season-horse-racing/"> quite literally</a>.
