The 33-year-old former Real Madrid and Manchester United goalscorer arrived in Turin dressed in a fitted suit. Previously dubbed one of the "most stylish men alive" by GQ magazine, the footballer has his own CR7 brand of menswear.

Juventus is already reaping commercial rewards from Ronaldo's signing, with a reported estimate of 520,000 replica jerseys flying off the shelves and online. In a 2015 survey, Juventus was revealed by a wide margin as the Italian team most loved -- and hated -- by football supporters. That polarization is set to continue with the signing of Ronaldo, with one Italian trade union calling a strike at the Fiat Chrysler car manufacturing plant as an act of protest. Juventus' president is Andrea Angelli, whose family also has shares in the automotive giant.

However, local business owners in Turin have jumped on the Ronaldo bandwagon. Mister Leonardo, from Miretti's ice-cream shop in downtown Turin, created a CR7 ice cream flavor made with Ginja Lisboa, a typical Portuguese sour cherry liqueur, and chocolate flakes.

A crowd of Juventus supporters waited for their star signing Ronaldo to show up for his medical on Monday morning in Turin. Juventus is on a record run of seven Serie A titles in a row, but has not won the Champions League since 1996.
