The show attracts yacht lovers from around the world. The collection of superyachts on display each year average close to 50 meters (164 feet) in length.
Out of the 120 superyachts which will be on display at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2018, half will be less than two years old.
Many yachts come complete with a helipad.
The show is confined to superyachts and megayachts of at least 20 meters (65 feet) in length -- with many much larger boats on display.
Last year's collection of yachts at the Monaco Yacht Show was valued at over $5 billion, according to the Yacht Harbour database.
Another annual Monaco event where yachts gather is Formula One grand prix, held every May in the principality. This photo displays shoes left by Grand Prix revelers as they entered a yacht docked at the harbor next to the Monaco street circuit in May.

The grand prix, however, attracted just $2.3 billion in yachts last year -- less than half the collective value that docked at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2017 -- according to Yacht Harbour.

The fleet of yachts at last year's Monaco Yacht Show totaled nearly 3.5 kilometers in length, according to the Yacht Harbour database, just short of the length of the entire Principality of Monaco.
