CNN  —

Paul Pogba should leave Manchester United, according to his agent Mino Raiola.

Speaking to Italian publication Tuttosport, Raiola says that Pogba is “unhappy at Manchester United.”

“(Paul) is no longer able to express himself as he would like and as expected of him,” Raiola told Tuttosport. “He has to change teams, he has to change the air.

“He has a contract that will expire in a year and a half, in the summer of 2022, but I believe the best solution for the parties is to sell it to the next market. Otherwise, the Old Trafford club, with which relations are excellent, knows that they would risk losing him on a free transfer, given that for the moment it is not the player’s intention to extend the contract.

Pogba is challenged by Declan Rice of West Ham United during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Manchester United.

“If someone doesn’t understand it, ergo they understand very little about football. In any case, put all the blame on me if Paul leaves next summer.”

Since returning from a positive Covid-19 test, 2018 World Cup winner Pogba has failed to secure a regular starting spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team. He has only started five Premier League games this season.

He did score his first league goal of the season on Saturday in United’s 3-1 comeback win over West Ham at the London Stadium.

Raiola’s comments come on the eve of a pivotal Champions League tie for Manchester United as it faces RB Leipzig on Tuesday. It needs at least a draw to guarantee qualification from Group H but defeat could see it demoted to the Europa League.

Pogba, 27, signed for Manchester United in August 2016 for $120 million from Juventus.

As well as Pogba, Raiola is also the agent of superstars such as Zlatan Ibrahimovi?, Matthijs De Ligt, Marco Verratti, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Erling Haaland. According to Forbes, Raiola has negotiated deals totaling approximately $700 million.

Manchester United did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment on Raiola’s Tuttosport interview.
