The Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma will host the 2022 PGA Championship following the decision to take the event away from the Trump National Golf Club.
The PGA Championship is one of the four “majors” in men’s professional golf – the four most prestigious tournaments on the professional golf calendar.
The 2022 championship had been scheduled to be played at the former US president’s club in Bedminster, New Jersey, but the PGA of America decided in a board meeting vote on January 10 to “terminate the agreement” with the Trump course in the wake of violence at the U.S. Capitol four days prior.

“The course offers a tough-but-fair test for the strongest field in golf,” the PGA of America organization said of the Southern Hills course on Twitter on Monday. It is the fifth time the Southern Hills Country Club has been named host course for the major tournament.
The decision to strip the Trump course of the major came just days after violent attack on the US Capitol by supporters of then-US President Trump.
“It has become clear that conducting the PGA Championship at Trump Bedminster would be detrimental to the PGA of America brand, it would put at risk the PGA’s ability to deliver our many programs, and sustain the longevity of our mission,” PGA of America President Jim Richerson said in a video address at the time.

“It was a decision made to ensure that PGA of America and the PGA Professionals can continue to lead and grow our great game for decades to come.”
Responding quickly to the PGA’s decision earlier this month, the Trump Organization released a statement saying: “This is a breach of a binding contract and they have no right to terminate the agreement. As an organization we have invested many, many millions of dollars in the 2022 PGA Championship at Trump National Golf Club, Bedminster.”
