Athletes dazzled us with amazing performances and unforgettable moments during the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Then the spotlight shifted to the Paralympics, which were also hosted in Japan's capital.

Like the Olympics, the Paralympics were postponed a year because of the Covid-19 pandemic. They were also held with very few fans in attendance, as the city is still under a state of emergency.

Sunday, September 5, marked the end of nearly two weeks of Paralympic sport, during which China topped the medal table with 96 golds and 207 medals in total. Great Britain was second with 41 golds and the United States third with 37.

That's because in 2019, the World Anti-Doping Agency banned Russia from all international sporting competitions, including the Olympics, for doping non-compliance.
