The UConn Huskies came into the NCAA Tournament as a 4-seed in their region, and they weren't picked by many to bring home the national championship.
But they left no doubt that they were the best team in college basketball, winning all six of their tournament games by double digits.
The last was a 76-59 win over San Diego State on Monday night. Tristen Newton scored a game-high 19 points, Adama Sanogo added 17 and Jordan Hawkins had 16 to lift the Huskies (31-8) to their fifth national title in school history. Sanogo was named the tournament's most outstanding player.
San Diego State (32-7) trailed by 12 at halftime but put together a spirited comeback effort in the second half, cutting the Huskies' lead to five before UConn pulled away. This was the first time the Aztecs had ever made the national championship game.
