The array of wildlife there was one attraction for Burchell. The blue heron is a common species of bird in the area, joining bald eagles, cormorants, northern cardinals, ospreys and many more.

It wouldn't be Florida without the occasional alligator, a potential problem given the number of houses with outdoor pools - but Burchell says their presence is rarely felt. "If you go anywhere near them, within 30 feet, they jump in the water - they're very scared of us," she told CNN.

The Burchell home is perched on the third green of the Dye's Valley Course, which has hosted a number of professional events in its 36-year history, including the 2015 Web.com Tour Championship.

But it's the community's other course that takes center stage. The TPC Stadium course is home to PGA Tour headquarters and The Players Championship. Every March, the area becomes gridlocked as fans pour in to watch "the fifth major," which was won in 2023 by Scottie Scheffler.

Residents stock up on supplies and hunker down for a week of partying during the tournament, enjoying private seating and a host of events, such as a military appreciation day held at the iconic TPC Sawgrass clubhouse.

The clubhouse, which offers a variety of restaurants is just one of many amenities available to residents. Players Park, in the community's center, offers recreational sports facilities as well as playing host to various festivals and events throughout the year.
