250 hostages were also taken during the attack. Families of some of those hostages sounded a siren for two minutes outside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence in Jerusalem, whom some families accuse of prioritizing his political survival over the safety of the hostages. Israel's ensuing war in Gaza has killed more than 41,000 people there, including children, and triggered a humanitarian crisis. Today, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society says an Israeli strike on a refugee camp in central Gaza has killed three people and wounded several more. The war has now also widened across the Middle East, which you can hear more about on Sunday's episode of CNN One thing. Available wherever you get your podcasts.

As the death toll from Hurricane Helene rises to 213 across the southeast, Florida is now preparing for Hurricane Milton. Over the weekend, officials announced another 11 deaths in North Carolina, two in South Carolina and one more in Tennessee. Meanwhile, Milton intensified to a Category 1 storm yesterday and is expected to make landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast later this week. In an area still cleaning up Halloween devastation, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has ordered all disaster management sites to remain open 24 seven as the state rushes to remove debris. And Florida Senator Rick Scott says Milton has the potential to cause a lot more damage than Helene.
