The National Hurricane Center says Milton could make landfall as early as 11 p.m. Eastern tonight near or just south of Sarasota. The NHC says life threatening storm surge, damaging winds and heavy rain that can cause flooding are expected across parts of central and southwestern Florida. The storm has also spawned a tornado outbreak. 90 tornado warnings have been issued, according to the National Weather Service. The most in a day on record in the state. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says more than 30,000 Floridians are in shelters. Here's CNN meteorologist Angela Fritz.

All of that energy is getting spread out into a big monster storm that is going to make landfall on the Gulf Coast of Florida as a major hurricane. We already saw impacts starting today, tornadoes, gusting winds and storm surge. And now the National Weather Service has said the time to evacuate is over. Take shelter.
