After he gave a heartfelt tribute to President Joe Biden. The former president took several swings at Trump and praised Vice President Kamala Harris. The night also included speeches from former Republicans making a case for independents and Trump critics to vote for Harris. Meanwhile, Trump was campaigning in Michigan. He told CNN he'd be open to Robert F Kennedy Jr, playing a role in his administration. If the independent candidate drops out of the 2024 race and endorses him. I like him a lot.

Iran says it still plans to retaliate against Israel, but that it will be, quote, carefully calibrated to avoid effecting a ceasefire deal in Gaza. That's the claim from Iran's U.N. mission, after the country's foreign ministry earlier said a deal was unrelated to its plans. Iran is threatening to strike back at Israel, which it blames for assassinating Hamas's political leader in Tehran last month. CNN's Fred Pleitgen is in Tehran and asked a spokesperson for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps about the planned retaliation.

Yesterday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Israel had agreed to a withdrawal from Gaza as part of a recent proposal to get closer to a cease fire agreement with Hamas. This despite reports in Israeli media that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is vowing to keep some forces near the Gaza Egypt border.
'A federal judge has blocked an upcoming ban on noncompete agreements. The ban was scheduled to go into effect nationwide on September 4th, after the FTC voted in May that the agreements are an unfair restraint on competition, violating antitrust law and suppressing workers wages and mobility. But U.S. District Judge Ada Brown in Dallas ruled yesterday that the FTC does not have the authority to adopt broad rules it deems are unfair methods of competition. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the country's largest business lobby and tax service firm, Ryan had petitioned the court to strike down the ban. The FTC says about 30 million people, or 20% of American workers, have signed non-compete. A spokesperson for the agency says it's seriously considering an appeal.
'The mayor of Moscow says his city was targeted overnight by what he calls one of the largest drone strikes from Ukraine. Russia says air defense systems destroyed 11 drones over the capital region, which is about 280 miles from the Ukrainian border. This comes as Ukraine's cross-border incursion into Russia continues, with Kyivs troops taking out several key bridges in the western part of the country, leaving Russia struggling to shore up its own territory.
So much for Bennifer 2.0. J.Lo has filed for divorce. That's next.
Jennifer Lopez is filing for divorce from Ben Affleck. The Los Angeles Superior Court docket shows Lopez filed for dissolution of their two year marriage yesterday. The breakup comes after reports the two had been living separately, and that they put their Beverly Hills home on the market. CNN has reached out to representatives for Lopez and Affleck for comment. Their marriage came more than 20 years after the two first met on the set of the comedy film Jilly, and struck up a real life friendship which later turned into a relationship. Over the years, they both married other people and had families before reconciling in 2021.
That's all for now. I'll be back with our next episode, which drops at nine a Am eastern.
