The MacBook Air M2 is a great notebook and has a long reign as our top pick for the best laptop you can buy. While we have since swapped it out for this year’s model, we still recommend the Air M2 to many because it’s a fast and ultra-reliable laptop that’ll keep you online for years. And today it’s down to a new all-time low price thanks to this Amazon Prime Day deal.

Apple’s M2 MacBook Air starts at $799 at Amazon, which totals $200 in savings. Amazon’s tagged this as a “limited-time deal,” and this offer applies to every color option for this storage capacity, including Space Gray, Midnight Blue, Starlight and Silver.

The entry-level configuration of Apple's excellent M2 MacBook Air is now down to a lower price than we've ever seen before for Prime Day.

When Apple released the MacBook Air M2, we were instant fans thanks to its performance we reported in our best MacBook article. This laptop added Apple’s excellent MagSafe charging port and managed to refine the iconic wedge-shaped MacBook Air design into a new and trim look that we love. And thanks to the M2 processor packed inside, the MacBook Air ran circles around similarly priced competitors in our performance tests and had no problem juggling our daily multitasking workload (including lots of apps and a ton of Chrome tabs).

Then there’s the stellar 13-inch Liquid Retina screen, which is brighter and more colorful than the displays it’s replacing, as Apple rates this panel for up to 500 nits of brightness and 1 billion colors. Your music, movies and podcasts will also sound better due to the quad-speaker array, upgraded from two speakers in previous models. When you combine that picture and audio quality with long battery life and speedy performance, you get a laptop that’s extremely easy to fall in love with.

Its price and low entry-level storage capacity are two of its relatively few drawbacks, so these deals are equally interesting. While the newer MacBook Air M3 is a great machine that I use often, I have zero trouble recommending the M2 Air to family and friends alike, especially if you’ve been waiting to update your laptop and want a replacement that will go the distance.
