Just like the rest of the year, CNN Underscored editors are constantly on the prowl for deals. For Prime Day, our jobs get a little more complicated as we sift through thousands upon thousands of discounts to find the cream of the crop. We’re not only constantly updating this story with all of the best deals but also ensuring that the prices displayed for each discount are the actual offers you’ll see when clicking over to Amazon.
What is Prime Day 2024?
Amazon Prime Day is a sale event exclusively for Prime members in the summer. It features two days of special savings on thousands of items across all product categories.
When is Prime Day 2024?
Amazon has officially announced that Prime Day will be running on July 16 and 17. That’s no surprise, as we typically see the summer sale go live during that second or third week of July. This year’s event will start on Tuesday, as it has in past years, and will run through the end of Wednesday.
For the past several years, Amazon Prime Day has also spanned two days. Before 2020, Prime Day always took place in July, but the sale was delayed in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, causing Prime Day to take place in October instead. In 2021, the event returned to summer with a June date, and in 2022 and 2023, Prime Day took place in July.
Recently, Amazon has held similar sale events at other times of the year to expand the reach of its Prime-only offers. The first-ever Big Spring Sale took place this past March, and the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days event was held in October 2023 ahead of the holiday season.
How to get the most out of Prime Day
First things first: Make sure you have an Amazon Prime membership. You can sign up for a 30-day free trial, after which your membership will cost $15 per month or $139 per year. In addition to fast, free two-day shipping, you’ll also have access to Prime Video, ad-free music streaming, unlimited photo storage and unlimited Prime Reading. Many of Prime Day’s best deals, including Lightning Deals (we’ll get to those in a second), are only available to Prime members.
Once your membership is all squared away, you should also take some time to ensure your payment methods, including 1-Click settings and default delivery, are up to date so that you can snag your desired deals in a timely fashion.
Additionally, Prime members can set up deal alert notifications related to their recent?Amazon?searches and recently viewed items on the?Amazon?app between now and the event. Once Prime Day begins, members will receive push notifications on any available deals.
