Air-drying isn’t a usual option for many of us, due to morning commitments and busy evening schedules. Hot tools are therefore necessary gadgets, and Dyson’s clever design gets the job done and reduces heat damage in the process— as well as replaces two appliances clattering around in your bathroom drawer.

In 2023 the Airstrait made headlines for its three functions: use the Wet mode to dry your hair while brushing it out, the Dry function to style it and the Cool mode to set your sleek style. Both heat and airflow are adjustable, including a root drying mode and a boost function to give an extra oomph to your styling.
Compared to traditional flatirons, it doesn’t use nearly as much heat during the straightening process, relying instead on airflow to minimize damage (it doesn’t go above 285 degrees Fahrenheit). If you don’t plan to straighten your hair, you can lock its arms in place to give it a rough dry before using a curling iron or spritzing in some styling spray.
While it does bill itself as a wet-to-dry straightener, our beauty expert found that she got the best results drying her lengths with her hair dryer by at least 50%, putting the most effort into the roots, then doing two or three passes with the Airstrait.
