Apple made a pretty big change to its accessory lineup for the iPhone 15 lineup: It ditched leather cases. For the first time in 10 years, the company isn’t offering any in-house leather cases for its newest smartphones, the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro. Instead, they’ve been replaced by the new FineWoven case, which is made of micro twill material and is more environmentally friendly.
While the company’s push for reduced carbon emissions is great to see, its FineWoven cases aren’t faring well with reviewers, and lots of consumers may simply want the premium craftsmanship and feeling of a leather case for their shiny new iPhone 15. If you’re one of those folks, we’ve rounded up nine of the best that you can get.
Nomad Modern Leather Case
From $50 at Nomad
Nomad is one of our favorite accessory makers for Apple products, and its range of iPhone cases remains one of the best you’ll find. For the iPhone 15 series, the brand is offering its Modern Leather Case, which comes in either its own leather finish or a special Horween leather that patinas a bit nicer.
The edges feature a 360-degree TPE bumper that can protect against drops at up to 8 feet. You also get aluminum buttons that are more tactile than Nomad’s previous rubber buttons, and integrated magnets for MagSafe support.
You’ve got three colors to pick from, if you get the standard leather finish: Black, Brown and English Tan. Meanwhile, the Horween leather finish comes in Black or Rustic Brown, the latter of which is my personal favorite. In our testing of iPhone 15 leather case alternatives, Nomad’s cases were an early favorite. It helps that they provide a physical button for the Action button, something others failed to deliver out of the gate.
Bellroy Phone Case
From $55 at Bellroy and Amazon
Bellroy’s leather case for the iPhone 15 is pretty close to what Apple would’ve made had it kept producing leather cases. The leather stretches across the back and around the sides while keeping the form factor nice and slim. It also comes with protective polymer bumpers and aluminum buttons. And, yes, the updated versions of this case for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max feature a physical button for the Action button, which was initially missing.
And in case you were wondering, yes, it has MagSafe support, thanks to the ring of magnets in the microfiber-lined interior.
There are a number of colors to pick from like Black, Cobalt (blue), Everglade (green) and Terracotta (tan). They all look really nice, so you can’t go wrong no matter what you pick.
Mujjo Full Leather Case
From $59 $41 at Mujjo and Amazon
Another leather case that’ll give you an Apple-like experience is Mujjo’s Full Leather case. Made with European leather that’s been tanned in the Netherlands, the material wraps around the entire exterior of the case, while Japanese microfiber lines the inside. There are aluminum buttons and a camera lip to protect the lenses, while the raised bezel can help protect the screen. It also ships with MagSafe support for wireless charging and compatible accessories.
Mujjo offers four colors for its Full Leather case: Black, Dark Tan, Monaco Blue and Burgundy.
Bullstrap Leather Case
$75 at Bullstrap
A more premium pick than most of the options on this list, Bullstrap’s full-grain leather case for the iPhone 15 series offers a unique look with varying textures, light buffing and special finishing processes that give it a weathered appearance. You’ll find stainless steel buttons along the sides, raised camera and screen lips, an exposed bottom side and MagSafe support in the middle of the microfiber interior. That exposed bottom side is ideal for those who think other cases get in the way of swiping up from that end of the screen.
It’s the perfect leather case if you want something a bit different that feels great to hold. It’s available in as many as seven colors, all with unique names: Maverick, Sienna, Dune, Bourbon, Ocean, Black and South Beach. If you’re getting a pink iPhone 15, the South Beach case will be the perfect complement. This case also has a physical button for activating the Action button.
Mous Limitless 5.0 Leather Phone Case
From $70 at Mous, $65 at Amazon
The Limitless 5.0 from Mous is one of the best cases to get if you want something unique, super protective and customizable. It’s making another appearance for the iPhone 15, and yes, it comes in leather.
The leather, which only comes in Black, is sold as an alternative backplate for the Limitless 5.0. So while it won’t cover the entirety of the case, it’ll still give you that signature premium feel. The case features Mous’ signature AiroShock protection, which will help with everything from everyday stumbles to extreme drops. It features a TPU construction and a raised lip to protect the screen.
For those who want more protection from their leather case, Mous has what you need.
Casetify Leather Case
$72 at Casetify and Amazon
One of the most unique case makers is Casetify, which makes some of the wackiest phone case designs on the market. Its leather case for the iPhone 15 is a break from that trend, at least not to the extent of other cases in its lineup.
The case comes with biodegradable leather with a textured grain, wrapped around the sides and back. You’ll find a “fiber suede” inner lining, a raised bezel for screen protection and a bold camera lip on the back with the Casetify logo. The company says the case can protect against 4.9-foot drops and is made from 90% sustainable materials, which will appeal to anyone who wants a leather case but is concerned about the environment. And of course, you get MagSafe support.
Because it’s a Casetify case, you can also customize your case through the company’s website with text, icons and more. It’s available in Jet Black, Greige, Oat Milk and Navy Blue, which should all complement the iPhone 15 Pro lineup really well.
Andar The Aspen
$55 at Andar
Based in Arizona, Andar has been specializing in minimal leather cases and goods for years. For the iPhone 15 series, the company is offering the Aspen, its premier leather case with a full wrap and an exposed bottom edge.
Is it designed to protect your phone against 30-foot drops? No, but it definitely adds some serious class. With aluminum buttons and a flat camera cutout, this case will easily fade into the background as you use it. Speaking of which, over time, it’ll develop a patina that’s unique to Andar’s texture. It also ships with MagSafe integration.
Colors include Brown, Jet Black, Camel Tan and Technically Red, the boldest of the finishes by a long shot.
Nomad Modern Leather Folio
From $60 $48 at Nomad
If you’re a fan of folio-style cases, Nomad’s Modern Leather Folio is a great choice. Made from the same leather finishes as the standard Modern Leather case, it comes with a protective rubber exterior and aluminum buttons along with a flap that protects the screen. Open it up, and you’ll find three card slots and a compartment for storing cash. It’s a sleek and premium way to keep everything you need with you while on the go. And yes, it supports MagSafe.
Colors? Let’s do it: The standard leather finish comes in Black, Brown and English Tan, while the Horween leather finish comes in Black or Rustic Brown.
Bellroy Phone Case 3 Card
$79 at Bellroy and Amazon
Bellroy’s 3 Card edition of its leather case for the iPhone 15 basically splits it at the side so you can slot in a few cards, and it’s extremely clean. It’s perhaps the most minimal approach to a wallet case I’ve ever seen, so if you’re tired of every wallet case you buy exposing your cards or being too thick to carry around, this might be right up your alley.
Of course, you still get Bellroy’s signature leather finish wrapped edge to edge with aluminum buttons, MagSafe and protective polymer bumpers. It’s available in Black, Everglade and Terracotta.
How to pick the best leather iPhone 15 case for you
Durability and size
Any leather case you pick from this list is going to look good, so you should focus on how much protection you want. Most of these cases carry a drop-test rating, which you’ll want to keep an eye on before you click “add to cart.” While most of these cases will cover all sides of your phone in durable leather, there are also more minimal options like Nomad’s Magnetic Leather Back that prioritize style at the expense of leaving your iPhone’s edges exposed.
Also, it might sound obvious, but make sure you’re getting the right size case for your specific iPhone 15 model. Most cases on this list come in iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max variations, so keep a close eye on those menu selections before you commit to buying.
Storage
Do you want a case that can double as a wallet of sorts, or do you just want your phone coated in a thin layer of leather? Cases like Nomad’s Modern Leather Folio and Bellroy’s Phone Case 3 Card are great for the former, while option’s like Andar’s The Aspen and the Bullstrap Leather Case are more ideal for minimalists.
Price
Be prepared to spend more on a leather iPhone 15 case than you would on a typical phone covering. Most models we’ve selected range from $50 to $70 in price, though we’ve seen some cases drop below that during sale periods.
