Roku TVs just leveled up in time for the holiday season. The first 4K Roku TVs with OLED panels have just been announced by electronics titan Sharp in its return to the US TV market. They’re available in 55- and 65-inch models, which are available for order right now.
The first OLED Roku 4K TVs support Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos for high-quality picture and audio.
The new OLED Roku TVs also pack 120Hz panels and VRR on all four HDMI ports.
OLED TVs, for those who need a reminder, use organic light-emitting diodes (hence their name) to deliver superb image quality with dark, inky black tones and vibrant colors. OLED’s popularity coincided with many other TV standards, such as Samsung’s QLED. Roku TVs, of course, give you the same interface and app selection you find on Roku players, which are some of our favorite streaming devices.
These Ultra HD televisions also support Dolby Vision IQ, which goes beyond the normal version of the HDR standard. Now, instead of just improved colors and contrast, the images you see will adjust to look best with the specific ambient lighting around your TV. Sharp’s OLED Roku TVs also support the HDR10 and HLG standards for improved color and contrast.
Gamers will be happy to note that these Sharp Roku OLED panels also feature a native 120Hz refresh rate and offer variable refresh rate (VRR) across all four HDMI inputs — this ensures your PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/Series S games can run as smoothly as possible.
For other specs, these sets have dual USB 2.0 ports, and the immersive Dolby Atmos sound spec is also supported. The TVs are estimated to deliver between Nov. 23 and 28.
