Small bathrooms, or bathrooms that lack built-in storage like shelves, drawers and towel bars, make it challenging to find a place for all your stuff. From bath towels to toiletries to extra rolls of toilet paper, we typically store a lot of things in our bathrooms.

We tapped experts to help us round up the best storage solutions for small bathrooms, or for bathrooms that simply aren’t designed with storage in mind. Whether you’re looking for wall-mounted organizers or clever under-sink storage, we’ve got plenty of ideas that will get your bathroom organized in no time. Here are 26 of the absolute best storage solutions for the bathrooms in your home.

Freestanding storage solutions

“Three-tier rolling carts are flexible, convenient storage options that easily allow you to organize any space in your home,” says home renovation and lifestyle expert Noell Jett. There are many uses for what she calls “portable organizational powerhouses,” including toiletries, crafting notions or office supplies.

Rolling carts are among the most popular items picked by experts for staying organized in the bathroom; they’re versatile and they come in loads of styles and sizes. Celebrity hairstylist Akihisa Yamaguchi likes this super-slim storage cart, especially for people with limited space.

If your bathroom has space for something bigger, this compact dresser offers easy-access storage for all your cosmetics, with enough drawers to dedicate to face, eye, lip products and more.

Countertop storage solutions

Reducing clutter can help to make a small space feel not so small. “These small drawers are perfect for organizing all those little things that clutter up your drawers and counters,” says Jett.

This riser-style vanity organizer with drawers adds a lot of small storage space to the bathroom counter and is a great choice in spaces where drawers are lacking.

Organizing a large makeup collection in a small space can be challenging, so look for compact but customizable options. This versatile palette organizer has removable dividers, allowing you to adjust it as needed to accommodate your collection of palettes, regardless of size.

This rotating organizer takes advantage of vertical space, allowing you to stack all your essentials. With multiple slots on the inner walls, you can adjust the height of the shelves to fit your tallest and smallest cosmetics.

Hair tool storage solutions

Jeremy Tardo, a celebrity colorist, likes this organizer for brushes: “It’s a sleek and functional option that works well for hairbrushes and combs. It also has a dedicated spot for your blow-dryer.” Our guide to the best hair tool organizers has more recommendations from Tardo and other experts.

“This product off Amazon could be really useful to store all your Dyson Airwrap accessories,” says hairstylist Ben Talbott. “I find Amazon a really useful tool [for] things like this.” Indeed, there are an impressive number of Airwrap storage options that come in a wide variety of configurations available on Amazon, ensuring everyone can find the right one for their needs.

If your hair-styling tools have taken over your bathroom, this clever adhesive organizer is for you. It has three divided sections for storing hot styling tools, brushes, combs and more, and it can be mounted using adhesive strips, so it won’t damage the walls.

Wall- or door-mounted holders for hair dryers are another way to use under-sink cabinet space to store items so that they’re out of sight but easy to access quickly when you need them.

Under-sink storage solutions

The area under the sink is prime storage space, and we have lots of great recommendations for under-sink storage. Because every under-sink area has a different configuration to account for plumbing hardware, look for expandable shelves that can be adjusted to fit around pipes and other fixtures.

Nonnahs Driskill, founding organizer at Get Organized Already!, loves this oversized lazy Susan with its 16-inch diameter for what she calls “that dark hole” at the back of cabinets, including the space under the sink. A turntable is a great way to maximize hard-to-reach storage spaces, making it easier to get what you need when you need it.

Command hooks designed to hold spray bottles are a super-smart way to organize cleaning supplies under a sink. The hooks are secured to the wall using adhesive strips, so hardware isn’t required for installation and they won’t damage the cabinetry. The hooks can hold bottles up to 32 ounces, or 2.5 pounds.

Hanging bars are another way to use valuable back-of-the-door storage space under a sink. Use it to hang bottles, hand towels and more.

Almost no DIY idea is more beloved by professional organizers than using a tension rod to store bottles of cleaning solution. “When it comes to organizing products,” says Driskill, “the lowly tension rod steals my heart in many situations — under the sink is one of them.” Simply pop the tension rod in an under-sink area and hang bottles from their triggers for tidy and easy-to-access storage.

The tension rod trick inspired this expandable storage shelf and rack. The tension spring design makes this a great choice for renters or dorm dwellers who want some extra storage space but who don’t want to put holes in a wall or cabinet and risk fines.

Wall-mounted storage solutions

Hooks are a great way to add extra storage for robes, towels and more in a bathroom by taking advantage of unused wall space. “If you are willing to wait on shipping from the Netherlands,” says Suze Dowling, co-founder and chief business officer at Pattern Brands, “these handmade oak wall hooks add both warmth and function to any room.”

For something more colorful, Dowling recommends these small hooks, which she says are “lightweight yet surprisingly strong.” Our guide to the best stick-on organizers has more ideas, plus tips on how to get the most out of adhesive application.

Another way to use wall space is to mount a set of floating shelves to add extra storage. “For my bathroom,” says Yamaguchi, “I use a small acrylic shelf to store products and give the appearance of a salon.”

This wall-mounted bathroom organizer has a towel bar that can hold hand towels or a bath towel and sits right below two shelves that are large enough to store toiletries, tissues, extra toilet paper and more. It also comes in white and three variations of wood.

Another versatile storage solution for towels is a wall-mounted rack with hooks, which can be used to hang bath towels as well as robes, hair wraps and more to keep them out of the way when not in use.

This waterproof toiletry organizer has an adhesive backing that allows you to mount it on glass (including mirrors), drywall or tile to store small items like toothbrushes, toothpaste and razors. It’s made of antibacterial silicone, and the bottom has drainage holes to prevent mold from developing.

Shower storage solutions

One drawback of suction cup-style bathroom caddies is that the fluctuating temperatures and moisture levels that characterize a bathroom can cause the suction cup to come loose from the wall it’s secured to. Command’s adhesive strips are designed to be water-resistant, so they’ll keep the caddy secured soundly without requiring you to put holes in the walls.

Corner shelves are a smart way to add storage in a shower and keep the floor and/or tub ledge free of bottles of shampoo and body wash. This set of two black metal corner shelves uses adhesive mounting strips and/or glue to secure the units to the wall of your shower and can hold up to 22 pounds.

An over-the-showerhead caddy is as basic as you can get — no screws or adhesives are needed to install it. Just hang it over the showerhead and you’re done! This metal wire unit has a broad shelf for holding bottles of shampoo, a soap holder that can accommodate most bar soaps and hooks for holding shower poufs and razors.
