If you have hardwood floors, carpets and mats are pretty much a home essential. They prevent scratches and stains, allow you to wipe off the bottom of your shoes before stepping into your home and can act as additional decoration to aesthetically elevate your living space. But no matter what purpose it serves in your home, no rug is immune to annoying curling and bunching if not secured to the floor.

The Gorilla Grip Rug Grippers are a quick fix to hold any carpet, rug or mat down to hardwood floors. Like double-sided tape, the pads stick to both your rug and the floor, allowing for a secure grip that takes a deliberate, forceful yank to disconnect. And at $12 for a pack of eight, this bargain has the potential to make a huge difference in your home.

For those fed up with curled corners on their rugs, these Gorilla Grip Rug Grippers are a quick and easy way to keep corners secure. They’re easy to use and cheap and, most importantly, they actually work.

How I found Gorilla Grip Rug Grippers

My doormat loved to travel from its place in front of my apartment’s entryway. The corners would catch on the door every time I swung it open, and if I even so much as tiptoed across it, it’d veer to the side against my will. Oftentimes, I’d catch it peeking out from under my doorway before I’d even enter my apartment as though greeting me from the hallway. The mat’s inability to remain stationary forced me to hunch over and readjust it each time I’d step on it, which quickly became a huge pain.

Since those thick, foam rug pads that slip under the entirety of a carpet never worked out for me, I scoured Amazon for a stronger yet smaller option and stumbled across Gorilla Grip’s adhesive pads. I was attracted to their discreet design and the simplicity of attaching them to the floor like large stickers. I also appreciated how each pad could be placed to perfectly stick to my rug’s corners. It was pretty much a no-brainer for me to purchase them.

Why it’s a score

The Gorilla Grip rug grippers proved to be a godsend for my roommates and I. The application process was completely seamless: I stuck down two pads per corner, first securing the rug side and pressing each pad down until they were immovable, then repeated the process for the floor side of the pad, and stuck each corner down by pressing firmly on the rug.

I waited about 15 minutes to let the pads fully stick to the floor before testing their durability. I opened and closed my front door, shuffled around on the mat in my winter boots and rolled luggage over it a couple times. Nothing shifted the mat from its place.

After a couple days of use, my doormat is still stuck to my entryway. However, if I ever need to detach the pads, it shouldn’t take much more than a deliberate tug to remove them from the floor. The rug grippers are meant to be removable, reusable and washable so that the adhesive continues to last. I have yet to put this to the test, but if the grippers’ rave reviews and promised lack of leftover residue speak to anything, I’m sure I’ll have no problem reusing them.

I’m also a huge fan of their low profile and sleek design. Whereas traditional rug grippers often jut out from under carpets, Gorilla Grip’s thin design makes for a more discreet, cheaper alternative. You can also line the pads along the sides of the rug if curling corners aren’t at the top of your list of carpet grievances.

Overall, I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. My roommates and I are amazed at the pads’ strength and relieved that we no longer need to aggravatingly bend down to adjust the mat everytime we leave home. I’ve found no fault with Gorilla Grip’s rug grippers and hope they withstand months more of use. If you have traveling rugs like I did before purchasing these, Gorilla Grip’s rug grippers are a game changer that you should definitely try out.
