The Zevo flying insect trap is a straightforward, no-chemical solution for fruit flies, mosquitoes, and other little bugs that somehow make their ways into our homes. Using blue and UV light, the trap naturally lures insects to a replaceable sticky wall on its back side. It’s designed to represent natural lights like the sun and moon, and it also mimics human body temperature. Just plug it into a wall outlet and you’re ready to go.

It’s never fun when you’re dealing with an insect problem, especially indoors. Whether faced with houseflies, fruit flies, mosquitoes or gnats, the Zevo trap is a simple way to get them (and those nasty bug bites) under control. It uses an adhesive sticker, which just slides into the back of the main plug-in unit. When it’s full of critters, you can easily switch it out with a new cartridge. Best of all, you don’t have to worry about chemicals or insecticides getting into the air you breathe when you’re repelling these bugs because this trap only uses light.

Get rid of annoying fruit flies and other pests with this simple, nontoxic insect trap. The Zevo is a plug-and-play solution that safely and easily rids your home of all types of flying bugs.

How I found the Zevo Flying Insect Trap

Gnats and fruit flies tend to be a result of having an active kitchen with lots of fresh fruits and veggies. From apple peels to banana skins, they really bring out the bugs. Even when I was a kid helping my mom make strawberry jam, I noticed that the little fruit flies were always quick to show up and hang around. Now, in my own kitchen, I clock an uptick in fruit flies when I have my compost pail out to collect food waste.

Recently, when I started to see an increase in activity, I began searching for a solution. Online, I clicked through a lot of the same stuff I’d seen before — usually some sort of liquid trap or device for the insects to go inside. These reminded me of the homemade traps I’ve seen and even made, using a liquid like vinegar, a wine bottle and a paper cone to trap the flies. When I came across the Zevo, it looked different from anything I’d tried before and I figured I’d give it a shot.

When the trap showed up, it was incredibly easy to put together. It took a few seconds to get it plugged in and open for business. At roughly 7 inches across, 9 inches long, and 7 inches deep, it was big enough to attract the insects, yet small enough to still work in my kitchen. And, of course, you can put it anywhere — like the laundry room, basement or even the bedroom if mosquitoes are a pain.

The light is, for the most part, unnoticeable during the day. But at night, the blue glow is bright enough to double as a nightlight. This took a little getting used to, but now no one in my family even notices. Plus, if it’s working its magic to attract those little bugs, I’m all for it.

Why it’s a score

For me, the Zevo was the perfect solution for my needs. I didn’t have a massive fruit fly or gnat problem, but they sure are pesky when they come around. Plus, I’ve been able to use this one for a few weeks now without having to replace the sticky cartridge that traps the insects. How often you replace the cartridge will depend on how many insects you have. At a quick glance behind the main unit, you can see how full it is. You might go a week or two before a replacement early on and then be able to go several weeks between eventually. The replacement cartridges are also under $25 for two and are sold separately.

The one thing I knew was that I did not want to have to deal with a liquid solution or anything that might have chemicals in it — especially near my food. So, this seemed like a better fit for me. A one-two punch of light and a sticky surface seemed like an easier and safer way to deal with the problem.

I also have several indoor plants, and sometimes these attract little gnats or other pests. In the reviews of this insect trap, I read that it can help attract those little bugs away from houseplants, so I’m looking forward to trying that out as well. Mostly though, my favorite thing about the Zevo trap is how easy it is. It took no prep, and it captured insects within the first couple of hours, which I can assure you is extremely satisfying.

I can’t speak to how this little device might work for a massive insect problem. You may have to consider installing a few traps in different areas to get them under control. But I can say that when I think of kitchen gadgets, I never imagined an insect trap would be in my lineup. But there you have it. I’ll be sending one to my mom soon because I know she’s still making that jam and fighting those fruit flies. This will most certainly help her out, just as it’s helped me.
