Goodnight!

What a night of action!

Robert Lewandowski hit four, Bayern hit six, PSG stunned Real and a ball boy got a hug from Jose Mourinho.

Make sure you join us on Wednesday for more action with Liverpool and Barcelona both in action.

In the meantime, have a read of Dominic Rech’s take on that sensational Paulo Dybala goal for Juventus. You can read that here.

See you tomorrow for more Champions League drama. Until then, goodbye.

Fancy a stat?

Oh, go on then.

Bayern boss salutes Lewandowski

What a start Hansi Flick has made to life as interim head coach of Bayern Munich.

Played four, won four, scored 16, conceded none.

Oh, and he’s got Robert Lewandowski scoring goal after goal after goal. What a player.

The Pole has 27 goals in 20 appearances for Bayern so far this campaign.

You can read all about Lewandowski’s astonishing numbers right here courtesy of Matias Grez’s article.

Tottenham's unlikely hero -- the ball boy

Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho was delighted with his players after they fought back from two goals down to win 4-2 against Olympiacos and book a place in the last 16.

But it was an unlikely figure who was the hero of the night for Mourinho – a Tottenham ball boy.

Mourinho walked down the touchline to embrace the boy after he had thrown the ball to Serge Aurier in rapid fashion, allowing Spurs to launch a lightning quick attack that ended with Harry Kane leveling at 2-2.

Dybala steals the show

What a night for Paulo Dybala.

While everyone else was talking about Cristiano Ronaldo making history by becoming the competition’s leading appearance maker for an outfield player, Dybala was busy planning a headline act of his very own.

The Juventus star scored an outrageous free-kick to give his side a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid in Turin. When we say outrageous, we mean outrageous.

It’s one of those goals that you’d love to try replicating in the park or the back yard – let us know if you pull it off.

Picture perfect

It has been a great night for Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski but what about the team’s interim manager Hansi Flick?

He’s won all four of his games in charge since replacing Niko Kovac at the start of November with Bayern having scored 16 goals and conceded none.

That’s a pretty impressive audition.

Will Flick get the job full time? Or will Bayern be tempted to try and lure Mauricio Pochettino to Germany after his departure from Tottenham?

Fancy a stat?

More Bayern brilliance…

Who's through, who's not

We’re just catching our breath here, but here’s what tonight’s results mean in terms of qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League.

Group A: PSG will finish top of the group following a 2-2 draw at Real Madrid regardless of what happens in matchday six. Real must make do with second place.

Group B: Bayern has already won the group and goes through along with Tottenham, which will finish second after it beat Olympiacos. Spurs are in Munich next.

Group C: Manchester City will top the group and will be joined by either Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb or Atalanta with all three teams still in with a chance.

Group D: Juventus has already sealed top spot and will be joined by either Atletico Madrid or Bayer Leverkusen. Atletico will progress if it beats Lokomotiv Moscow on December 11 but could be overtaken by Leverkusen if it fails to win and the German side shocks Juventus.

Simple, eh?

Player of the night: Robert Lewandowski

What a night for the Bayern Munich star.

He scored four goals in 14 minutes and 31 seconds as Bayern hit Red Star for six in Belgrade.

His quadruple was the fastest in Champions League history. He has now 27 goals in 20 games for Bayern this season. Frightening.

He is also just the second player to have scored 4+ goals in a Champions League game on more than one occasion, along with a certain Lionel Messi.

Full-time results

Group A: Real Madrid 2-2 PSG, Galatasaray 1-1 Club Brugge

Group B: Red Star Belgrade 0-6 Bayern Munich, Tottenham 4-2 OIympiacos

Group C: Atalanta 2-0 Dinamo Zagreb, Manchester City 1-1 Shakhtar Donetsk

Group D: Juventus 1-0 Atletico Madrid, Lokomotiv Moscow 0-2 Bayer Leverkusen

Oh my!

Would you believe it? Gareth Bale, the man booed by his own fans, comes within inches of winning it for Real Madrid.

The Welshman lines up a free-kick some 25 yards from goal before unleashing a rasping effort which smashes against the post with PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas a mere spectator.

What a moment that would have been for Bale. It finishes 2-2. What a night in Madrid.

Would you believe it? Real stunned

Wow!

What is going on in Madrid?

Karim Benzema looked to have won this game after heading home his second goal of the game with 11 minutes remaining.

But two goals in three minutes for PSG has turned this tie on its head.

First, Kylian Mbappe rounded off a counter attack with a close-range finish before Pablo Sarabia unleashed an unstoppable effort to drag his side level.

Nobody can quite believe what has happened! Absolute madness! It’s 2-2!

GOAL! Tottenham 4-2 Olympiacos

Two goals in the space of four minutes give Tottenham a comfortable lead and confirm its place in the knockout stages.

This time Harry Kane heads home from Christian Eriksen’s free-kick … remember, the Dane was substituted on after only 29 minutes for Eric Dier.

That early change looks to have paid off for Jose Mourinho.

Credit where it’s due for Spurs, it has shown fight which has been severely lacking in recent weeks.

Fancy a stat?

Harry Kane there…he’s one of their own. What a night for the Tottenham captain.

GOAL! Tottenham 3-2 Olympiacos

And with that, the comeback is complete.

After trailing 2-0 in the first half, Tottenham has turned things around as Serge Aurier hammers home to put Spurs ahead for the first time in this game.

It looks as though Jose Mourinho’s unbeaten run at home in his first game at every new club will go on.

Lewandowski makes it four in 14 minutes

Would you believe it? No sooner had we published a post about Robert Lewandowski scoring his third, he went and scored his fourth.

The guy is insatiable. Four goals in 14 minutes for Lewandowski – the Red Star defenders must be sick of the sight of him.

Is this guy human?

Make that 26 goals in 20 appearances for Bayern’s star striker Robert Lewandowski.

Wow, just wow. Three goals in 11 minutes for the Polish star means it’s now Red Star 0-4 Bayern Munich in Belgrade.

One penalty, one close-range finish and a deft header – not bad for a night’s work.

He’s now the leading scorer in this year’s competition and the fifth player to have scored in each of the first five group games of a Champions League campaign.

There’s still time for him to score more!

Robert Lewandowski celebrates scoring against Olympiacos.

Paulo Dybala steals the show

It was supposed to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s night, as the Portuguese star celebrated becoming the outfield player with most appearances in Champions League history.

But Paulo Dybala had other ideas and has so far stolen the show for Juventus – his free-kick has been the one bright spot in a match otherwise severely lacking in quality.

Ronaldo did just have a chance after being put clean through on goal, but fired his effort way, way over the crossbar.

A Juventus fan holds aloft a banner of Paulo Dybala while the Argentine celebrates.

Lewandowski doing what he does best

It’s 2-0 Bayern Munich and it’s another goal for that man Robert Lewandowski.

That’s 24 goals in 20 appearances for Bayern this season. Ridiculous numbers.

Bayern 2-0 up and cruising in Belgrade.

Kane in good company

There’s a few names you might recognize here…

Goal! Kane fires Tottenham level

You wonder what Jose Mourinho said to his players at halftime because they have come out of the blocks at breakneck speed.

Harry Kane, (who else?) fires his side level after being picked out by Lucas Moura.

You’d fancy Spurs to win it from here, wouldn’t you? It’s 2-2.

Greek tragedy for Mourinho?

It wasn’t the first 45 minutes of Champions League football Jose Mourinho must have been dreaming of when he went to bed on Monday night.

His Tottenham side were 1-0 down after just six minutes as Youssef El-Arabi tried his luck from around 25 yards for Olympiacos. The Moroccan forward struck a pose in celebration after delivering a nightmare start for its English rivals.

The Greek side added further embarrassment just before the 20 minute mark too courtesy of Ruben Semedo’s effort.

Tottenham clawed one back just before the break to leave the halftime score at 2-1.

What will the next 45 minutes bring?

Olympiakos forward Youssef El-Arabi celebrates putting his side 1-0 up against Tottenham after just six minutes.

Fancy a stat?

Lots of effort but it’s still losing… Any way back for Atletico in Turin?

Halftime scores

Here’s how it looks at the break.

Latest scores:

Group A: Real Madrid 1-0 PSG

Group B: Red Star Belgrade 0-1 Bayern Munich, Tottenham 1-2 OIympiacos

Group C: Atalanta 1-0 Dinamo Zagreb, Manchester City 0-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Group D: Juventus 1-0 Atletico Madrid

PSG will be fuming...

My word, what a moment in Madrid.

PSG thinks it has been given a penalty when Mauro Icardi is taken out by Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

The referee points to the spot and shows Courtois the red card which sparks wild protests from Real’s players.

Amid the chaos, Artur Dias, the referee, goes to consult the pitchside monitor after a conversation with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

But replays show a foul on Real’s Marcelo in the build up to the goal, a rather soft one it has to be said, and Dias reverses his decision.

So that’s no penalty, no red card and PSG still trails 1-0.

GOAL! Juventus 1-0 Atletico Madrid

Wow … Paulo Dybala!

The little Argentine fires a stunning free-kick into the top corner from such a tight angle – a piece of a sublime quality at the end of a pretty dull half of football.

Should Atletico’s Jan Oblak have done better there? Perhaps a goalkeeper of his quality will be disappointed to be beaten from that angle.

And with that, the referee brings an end to the first half.

Take a bow, Rihanna

We always had Rihanna down as a cricket fan but the singer is spending her evening in Turin watching Juventus take on Atletico.

We’re wondering if she’s brought her umbrella, or perhaps she’s just there to see the two teams work, work, work. Perhaps she’ll take a bow at the end… (Apologies for the dreadful amount of puns)

Shortest honeymoon period ever?

Poor Eric Dier … not even 30 minutes on the clock and the Englishman is hauled off by Jose Mourinho for Christian?Eriksen.

Jose Mourinho looks on with his Tottenham side 2-0 down to Olympiacos.

Do you ever get the feeling somebody is watching you? A flag with the image of former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino looms ominously behind Mourinho.

Party time!

Olympiacos fans are loving their side’s start at Tottenham and who can blame them?

It’s 2-0 to the Greek side with two goals inside the first 20 minutes.

Could this be a famous victory for the visiting team? Or will it end up a Greek tragedy?

Olympiacos fans celebrate after their team takes the lead at Tottenham.

Trouble for Tottenham...

Make that 38… it trails Olympiacos 2-0.

GOAL! Tottenham 0-2 Olympiacos

Well, well, well …

Surely Jose Mourinho’s downfall as Tottenham manager can’t begin in only his second match?

Ruben?Semedo has just put Olympiacos 2-0 up against Tottenham in north London!

Is Mourinho’s run about to come to an end?

Goal! Real leads PSG

It’s the perfect start for Real Madrid and it’s that man Karim Benzema once again.

The Frenchman is on hand to fire home from close-range after a wonderful sweeping move cut through the heart of the PSG defense.

It’s the first goal PSG has conceded in this season’s Champions League.

GOAL! Olympiacos stuns Tottenham

Well, well, well.

That wasn’t supposed to happen was it?

Jose Mourinho’s return to the Champions League has got off to the worst possible start with Olympiacos taking a shock lead in north London.

It’s a fine finish from Youssef El-Arabi, who curls the ball into the far corner to stun Mourinho’s men.

To be fair, that goal had been coming. A slow start from Spurs. Can it recover?

Pillows and duvets

We’re still not sure if Jose Mourinho knows what ‘mojo’ is … but chances are he’s probably had a good night’s sleep ahead of Tottenham’s crucial match against Olympiacos this evening.

Mourinho eyes last 16 with Spurs

Did you miss him?

Jose Mourinho is back in the Champions League and takes charge of his first game in the competition as Tottenham coach.

Mourinho, who won the trophy with Porto and Inter Milan, replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Head Coach last week.

Jose Mourinho won his opening match with Tottenham last Saturday.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Tuesday’s game with Olympiacos, Mourinho said: “With these boys I will never be afraid of any Champions League match.

“We need to qualify. It’s only when my teams arrive in the quarter-finals that I start thinking that we have a chance. In this moment we are far from it.”

Tottenham can book its place in the last 16 with a game to spare should it beat Olympiacos in London – a remarkable achievement given the 7-2 humiliation it suffered at the hands of Bayern Munich earlier in the group stage.

Spurs has won nine of its past 13 Champions League home games, losing the other four.?

Here we go!

We’re underway in all six evening games across Europe.

Where will we see the first goal?

Ding ding: Ronaldo vs. Simeone -- the rematch

The last time Atletico Madrid traveled to Turin back in March, we were treated to one of the great Champions League comebacks.

Cristiano Ronaldo – unsurprisingly – stole all the headlines, both for his goalscoring exploits and the celebration that followed.

Trailing 2-0 from the first leg in Madrid, Ronaldo put in the kind of individual match-winning performance Juventus fans had been dreaming of since the club signed him.

After scoring his and the team’s crucial third goal, Ronaldo copied the “cojones” celebration performed by Atletico coach Diego Simeone after his side had gone 2-0 up in the first leg.

Both Ronaldo and Simeone were fined €20,000 ($22,700) by UEFA for “improper conduct.”

Cristiano Ronaldo mimics Diego Simeone's celebration after knocking Atletico Madrid out last season.

A win tonight would secure top spot in Group D for Juventus ahead of Atletico … so don’t rule out things getting feisty once again.

Full time: Galatasaray 1-1 Club Brugge

Well … what a hectic closing few moments that was.

Two, frankly, stupid red cards for Club Brugge players Krepin?Diatta and Clinton?Mata see the Belgian side instantly down to nine men after drawing level, essentially ending any hopes of finding a winner.

However, as the final whistle sounds, the visiting team celebrates wildly.

It wasn’t quite the win that was needed to keep its hopes of a place in the last 16 alive, but Brugge remain in pole position for a Europa League spot.

Full time: Lokomotiv 0-2 Bayer Leverkusen

That’s a big win for Bayer Leverkusen and keeps it in with a slim chance of qualifying for the last 16.

An own-goal from Rifat?Zhemaletdino and Sven Bender’s fine finish wrapped up a vital win for the visiting side in Moscow.

All eyes will now be on Turin where second place Atletico faces Juventus. Should Diego Simeone’s men lose, Bayer could pounce.

Bayer hosts Juventus in its final game.

GOAL! Galatasaray 1-1 Club Brugge

You have to say that goal has been coming.

Krepin?Diatta cuts inside and curls a wonderful effort into the bottom corner.

The Turk Telecom Stadiums falls silent – bar the pocket of traveling Brugge fans high in the stands.

However, things quickly turn sour for the Belgians as Diatta receives a second yellow for removing his shirt in the celebrations … and Brugge is then quickly down to nine men.

In his joy, Clinton?Mata kicks the corner flag and breaks it, resulting in referee Ivan Kruzliak also showing him a second yellow.

What a few minutes!

Ronaldo makes history

Cristiano Ronaldo has made yet more history – and that’s without even kicking a ball.

Ronaldo has been named in the Juventus side to face Atletico in Turin – meaning he will become the leading appearance maker in the Champions League for an outfield player.

He’s also the leading scorer in Champions League history with 127 goals to his name.

This will be Ronaldo’s 175th UCL game, one more than former AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini.

Goalkeeper Iker Casillas holds the overall record with 188 Champions League appearances.

How 'Sonsation' gripped South Korea

Few players are icons in their home countries quite like Son Heung-min.

The Tottenham star adorns billboards across South Korea, has bars named in his honor and attracts a dedicated fan base which follows him wherever he goes.

Minji Seo is a self-confessed Son superfan – even her own father says she’s “crazy”!

“My life’s passion is Son Heung-Min,” Seo told?CNN Sport. “When I wake up, the first thing I think about is Son.”

Son starts tonight for Spurs against Olympiacos … just imagine the scenes in the Seo household if he scores the goal that sends his team into the knockout stages!

Click on the video and link in the tweet below for more on the ‘Sonsation’ that has gripped South Korea.

Lethal Lewandowski

For all the talk about Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s another striker who has stolen the show in 2019.

Step forward Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

The 31-year-old has scored 47 goals in 52 games for club and country this year – and he’s already got six in this season’s Champions League. He has scored 23 goals in 19 appearances for Bayern so far this season.

Lewandowski and Bayern go up against Red Star Belgrade in Serbia on Tuesday with the German side requiring victory to secure top spot in Group B.

Bayern has won all four of its group games so far and is on a good run under interim coach Hansi Flick, who replaced Niko Kovac earlier this month.

Bayern has won all three games under Flick, scoring 10 goals and conceding none.

The wait goes on

Neymar is going to have to wait a little bit longer for his return to Champions League action.

The Brazilian was expected to play his first European match for almost a year, but will have to make do with a place on the bench for the huge clash against Real Madrid.

Kylian Mbappe, Angel Di Maria and summer signing Mauro Icardi are the front three chosen by Thomas Tuchel.

Still, not a bad player to have as a substitute.

Neymar only makes the substitutes bench for the match against Real Madrid.

What a goal! Lokomotiv 0-2 Leverkusen

Sven Bender has just scored an absolute stunner for Bayer Leverkusen to give his side a 2-0 lead in Moscow.

It’s a wonderful left-foot finish from the midfielder, who volleys home an unstoppable effort into the top corner from inside the penalty area.

What a strike! According to Bayer’s twitter feed, such a goal should be called a “Traumtooooor” and who are we to disagree?

Ronaldo targets Atletico ... again

Cristiano Ronaldo loves scoring against Atletico Madrid. He just absolutely loves it.

The Portuguese star has scored 25 goals against Atlético in all competitions, only Sevilla (27) has suffered more.

During his time at Real Madrid, Ronaldo scored 22 goals in 31 games against Atletico, and last season he was at it again, hitting a hat-trick to help Juventus overturn a first-leg deficit to win 3-2 on aggregate in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be hoping for yet more goals against Atletico Madrid.

Though the 34-year-old has been struggling with pain in his knee in recent weeks, he is still expected to feature on Tuesday night.

“Yesterday (Sunday), he trained with his teammates. It seems that his condition is improving but we still have to evaluate between today and tomorrow,” Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri told reporters Monday.

Juventus, which has already qualified for the last 16, can secure top spot in Group D with victory over Atletico.

The Spanish side, which was beaten by Bayer Leverkusen in its previous group game, currently sits second behind Juventus.

Halftime: Lokomotiv 0-1 Leverkusen

The halftime whistle has sounded in Moscow with Bayer Leverkusen leading courtesy of that rather unfortunate own-goal by Rifat?Zhemaletdinov.

Both teams have had chances and we’re not quite sure how there has only been one goal so far. Not sure this one is over yet.

Halftime: Galatasaray 1-0 Club Brugge

Galatasaray may already be out of this season’s Champions League … but look what that goal still meant to Adem Buyuk.

His smart turn and volley is all that separates the two sides in what has been a high-tempo, feisty encounter.

Club Brugge know only a win will keep it in the hunt for a knockout place, while Galatasaray need a victory to keep alive any hope of a place in the Europa League.

Bring on the second half!

Adem Buyuk celebrates his opening goal against Club Brugge.

Whatever you do, don't ask Napoli about Brexit

Well … that’s … er … different?

GOAL! Galatasaray 1-0 Club Brugge

With just one point and zero goals from its previous four Champions League games this season, Galatasaray fans have had very little cheer about.

The Turkish side’s poor form meant any hope of qualification for the knockout stages was extinguished long before tonight’s match kicked off.

Despite the doom and gloom, Adem?Buyuk’s early goal against Brugge has lifted the roof off the Türk Telekom Stadium.

The forward brilliantly held off his marker in the box and unleashed a stunning volley into the bottom corner.

The winner of tonight’s game will be in pole position to secure a spot in the Europa League round of 32.

Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen has taken an early lead against Lokomotiv Moscow thanks to Rifat?Zhemaletdinov’s own goal.

Time to crank up the volume

Go on, click the tweet, turn up the volume and let yourself go.

We’re underway in Istanbul and Moscow.

The stats don't look good for Galatasaray

Galatasaray has failed to win any of its four group games so far this season.

The Turkish side, which hosts Club Brugge, has won just a single point so far and has no chance of qualifying for the last 16.

Galatasaray has managed just one win in its past 19 European fixtures, drawing six and losing the other 12.

It has won just two of its past 15 European fixtures in Istanbul, drawing six and losing seven.

Galatasaray has also failed to defeat a Belgian club in each of its previous seven attempts, drawing three and losing four.

Real boss Zidane "in love" with PSG's Mbappe

Zinedine Zidane launched a charm offensive on the eve of Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain after declaring his admiration for French striker Kylian Mbappe.

The Real boss left little doubt as to his desire to lure Mbappe to Real in the future with the club still struggling to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mbappe, 20, had a trial at Real as a teenager but signed for AS Monaco before joining PSG where he has since established himself as one of Europe’s most talented forwards.

PSG forward Kylian Mbappe has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Mbappe has scored eight goals in six starts for PSG in a season that has so far been punctuated by injury.

His boss, Thomas Tuchel, responded to Zidane’s comments by insisting Mbappe remains very much a PSG player.

“Sometimes the players you love the most are the ones you cannot have, but unfortunately for Zidane he is our player, although I’m sure he has a lot of players who he loves in his team,” Tuchel told reporters.

“I don’t know how much Zidane loves Mbappe but he is our most important player and we are very happy that he belongs to us.”

Early treat to get us started

Did someone say early treat? Yes, yes we did.

In fact, we’ve got two early treats for you with Galatasaray hosting Club Brugge in Group A and Lokomotiv Moscow going up against Bayer Leverkusen in the Russian capital.

It’s a particularly big game in Group D with victory for either Lokomotiv or Leverkusen set to heap the pressure on second place Atletico Madrid.

A win for either team in Moscow and defeat for Atletico would lead to just a point separating second and third.
